A renowned manufacturer of fine paper

Germany

The customer

The company is a renowned manufacturer of fine paper. Its core competencies are paper manufacturing and paper processing of wood-free coated and uncoated fine paper (WFC, WFU), digital printing paper, as well as special paper. At maximum capacity, more than 1,000,000 tons of paper can be produced and processed here annually.

Application

Our Siegling flat belts are used in cross-/size-cutters. The purpose of these machines is to remove the paper from the roll and cut it to sizes like A3, A4 etc.

In addition to conveying and guiding the paper through the machine, the flat belts’ job is to catch and stack the cut sheets of paper. Due to the cross-cutter widths of usually up to 2 meters, up to 40 flat belts operate in sets.

Our belting solution

Our customer primarily purchases GG 5E grey (art. no. 822115), which was developed as a standard product for this application. Furthermore, the RR 4E-HC+ FSTR/FSTR grey flat belt (art.-no.: 822151) has also been available just recently. This is a new generation with an innovative R-coating. It stands apart because it grips the paper particularly well. In terms of performance and service life, the belt has scored top marks across the board.

Result

In addition to the fact that it operates perfectly at the customer and has a longer service life than the GG 5E grey, the R-coated belt provides better results regarding leaving markings on the paper. In this case it’s important that the flat belts don’t leave any streaks on the paper or stain it. The new belt also has a higher electrostatic category compared with the GG 5E belt. This means less electrostatic build-up on the flat belt and therefore the paper not sticking as much to the belt during conveying.
