Well-being

Well-being starts here

We made it our mission to design and offer products that contribute in a positive way to the health and comfort of the individual by bringing nature in.

In a world where we spend on average 85% of our time indoors, it's only natural to prioritise enhancing the quality of these spaces. Whether it's schools, healthcare facilities, workplaces, leisure centres, or our homes, every square meter provides an opportunity to infuse the best elements of nature into our indoor surroundings.

Marmoleum contributes to each and everyone's well-being on many levels. Marmoleum is designed to contribute to a safe, hygienic and comfortable environment. The floors are easy to clean, naturally bacteriostatic, have antiviral properties and are Allergy UK approved. Its tactility and beautiful colours influence all your senses. Thanks to its biobased raw materials and continuous life cycle improvements, we are able to create a climate positive floor that contributes to a sustainable future. Marmoleum floors improve the environmental and well-being score in building rating schemes such as LEED, BREEAM and the Well building standard.

Create a seamless connection between our living spaces and the natural world.

Climate positive

Marmoleum: eco-friendly floor

With Marmoleum, you are choosing a sustainable floor that is climate positive (cradle to gate), without offsetting. From its origins to the final product, without buying carbon credits.

The construction industry is one of the major contributors of carbon emissions that cause climate change, and those that work in the industry are always looking for ways to reduce its carbon footprint to combat global warming. The use of environmentally friendly building materials is therefore becoming increasingly important when designing a new construction project.

Forbo aims to contribute to solving climate change issues by developing environmentally friendly flooring solutions.

Our Marmoleum floors are made from up to 98% natural raw materials such as linseed oil, wood flour, limestone, rosin and jute. Marmoleum is unique as it has CO2 uptake in the product itself. The photosynthesis of the biobased materials used in Marmoleum provides CO2 uptake that exceeds the CO2 emissions caused by transportation and production processing. Therefore, Marmoleum is climate positive (or carbon negative) from cradle to gate, without offsetting.

Forbo uses Life Cycle Assessments to identify and continuously improve the sustainability performance of our floors. Our independently verified Environmental Product Declarations provide the information you need to make a sustainable decision. Read more about LCA and EPD.
