Chimelong water park opened in Guangzhou in the south of China in 2007 and offers 25 attractions for the whole family over an area of 400,000 square meters. One of the rides is the SlideWheel, a combination of a water slide and Ferris wheel, which can take up to 700 people per hour. An Austrian company called Chairkit, a world leader in all types of loading systems including ski lifts, developed and made the starting and loading conveyors and raft lift for the attraction.

Non-slip, acceleration-friendly belts
Prolink series 8-0 FRT1 are used when people get in at the beginning of the ride and when the rafts are pulled into the slide. The belt’s surface has a special non-slip finish – a fabrication feature that’s also ideal for accelerating the rubber rafts.
Safe conveying at an 85-degree gradient
When people on the rafts have passed through the slide and get out, the unoccupied rafts are taken back via the tube conveyor to the start. Forbo Movement Systems’ Prolink series 6.1 (S6.1-23 FLT) plastic modular belts are used to return the rafts over a gradient of 85 degrees and a height difference of 14 meters. Despite the steep angle, the rafts don’t slip and are quickly and, above all, reliably taken back to the top again. The belt’s material is robust and durable – even when in contact with chlorinated water. It also has superior UV resistance.
