Piovesana

Treviso Province, Italy

The customer

Piovesana is located in the Treviso Province in Northeast Italy and has been producing sweet biscuits and salty crackers for more than 90 years, mainly for the Italian market. As a family owned business, they are committed to high quality products and have been a Forbo customer for several years.

Application

Piovesana asked for an outfeeder belt for conveying product after the oven, with temperatures higher than 80 C°. The belt runs over a fixed knife edge with 8 mm diameter, inclined (low degree) and must have a very good high temperature resistance. Furthermore, it must be laterally stiff, robust, flexible for knife edge and - last but not least - easy to clean.

Our belting solution

Before we were asked to offer Forbo products, Piovesana tried different competitor products. Those belts failed for different reasons, either due to limited temperature resistance or were too rigid to work on the knife edge. The belts were also too light, fast wearing and difficult to track.

We decided to supply the customer with Siegling Transilon E 3/2 U0/U2 white (dimensions 5690 x 850 mm) with a Z-splice due to its flexibility, scratch resistance (can be cleaned with scrapers) and above all good resistance to high temperatures. These beneficial belt features combined with a very good value for the customer’s investment, resulted in great customer satisfaction.

The customer is now fully convinced that our food belts with PU coating have a better temperature resistance compared to competitors. The customer can use our PU where previously silicone belts had been installed, which are more expensive and mechanically fragile (due to the scrapers).

Result

The customer has reduced the owning costs, improved the lifetime of the belt and has reduced maintenance downtime.
