Downtimes play a decisive role in existing buildings in particular: the faster the renovation is completed, the shorter the interruption to operations. There is often a requirement to renew closed-off partial areas during ongoing operation. Elaborate subsurface renovation measures combined with long drying times when using leveling compounds or dispersion adhesives are not an option in these cases. The solution is called Allura Puzzle. The large-format tiles (96 x 96 cm) with extensive project suitability (wear layer 0.70 mm, NK 43, flame-retardant, R10) are easy to lay and yet powerful in use.
When the Edeka Reske store in Berlin was renovated, replacing the floor covering was not actually an issue. However, in the course of the renovation it became apparent that the old soapstone tiles did not harmonize with the modern shop design concept. So the floor also needed a new look, but no time was planned to change the surface. Allura Puzzle came to the rescue: After only three days - from the order to the finished installation - the store design appeared to be of one piece and the store manager was extremely satisfied.
Just like any other floor covering, Allura Puzzle requires a subfloor that is ready to be laid, but under certain conditions solid, level and dry old subfloors can also be covered. Laying begins in the middle of the room based on a plan. The square tiles are laid monolithically, i.e. cross-jointed, loosely on the subfloor - without the use of adhesives. The edges of the Allura Puzzle tiles have connectors on four sides. This ensures that the tiles are connected to one another according to the dovetail principle. For assembly, the connectors are closed flush with a rubber mallet, starting from the corners, without tilting. A gap of 3 to 5 millimetres should be planned for walls, door frames and other finishes. Straight cuts are made by scoring the surface with a trapezoid blade, then folding it over and finishing with a hook blade. Round cuts, for example on pillars, are easier to make if the floor covering is heated beforehand.
Immediately after installation, the surface can be fully used: as Allura Puzzle is factory-equipped with a hard-wearing PUR surface finish. This results in low maintenance and reduces maintenance costs. Along with the tight joint closure, wet cleaning is also no problem. Even if Allura Puzzle is tough, the rule for this floor covering is to minimize the ingress of dirt through suitable clean-off areas, to provide furniture contact areas with underlays, to prevent moisture accumulation and to observe special requirements for the use of lifting and conveying machines .
Protective covers
If the area is to be used by other trades immediately after the floor covering has been laid, it must be protected against damage with suitable covers – for example with Protection Paper from Forbo.. The only additional option is to put in measures such as blocking off areas with marking tape.
Fast installation with short downtimes and residue-free recovery are the main advantages of Allura Puzzle.
When equipping interiors with floor coverings, important criteria such as appearance and durability have to be reconciled, but quick installation and easy dismantling are already on the wish list of many planners.
