Double sided

A high degree of flexibility - For the presentation Transitions II, curated by Baars and Bloemhoff, the duo Daphna Laurens researched the extreme limits of the malleability of Forbo Furniture linoleum. The duo glued together two layers of the material and thus created a two-tone and also double-sided, flexible material.

‘On top organisers’, ‘above lamp’ and a ‘beside chair’ will be presented in Broeinest during the DDW.

Quote from the designers:
“Desktop, furniture linoleum, from the producer Forbo was a ‘logical’ choice for us. Its fine texture, the attractive matte exterior and above all the material’s high degree of flexibility prompted us to use it for our Transitions II project.”

4x for Forbo

New perspectives on Linoleum - Four Dutch design studios have been invited by Forbo Flooring to explore the potential of Furniture linoleum and Bulletin board.

In their thorough research they focussed on new applications and unique adaptations. The results show how they convincingly succeed to challenge the boundaries of the Forbo material.

Mieke Meijer, Albert Bouwman, Frederike Top, Michiel Martens & Jetske Visser.

During the Dutch Design week their work is on show at the Klokgebouw.

Reinforced with Jute fibers - Willem de Kooning Academy student {Laura van de Wijdeven](www.lauravandewijdeven.nl;css-nAr) created tiles composed out of 50 % Forbo jute fiber and 50% porcelain clay. The original properties of the porcelain are changed by this addition. The fiber reinforces the porcelain and transforms it into an extremely durable material.

Plynoleum

100% Furniture linoleum - Forbo Flooring commissioned student Kim van Nispen to make a special edition of her ‘Plynoleum’ stool based on colours of the recently launched new Furniture linoleum collection.

During the Dutch Design week 2015 Kim presented the first prototype of her ‘Plynoleum” stool, the result of a collaboration project of Forbo Flooring with the Willem the Kooning Academy.

The so called ‘Plynoleum’ stool is entirely made out of Furniture linoleum. By laminating various layers of Furniture Linoleum a constructive free-standing material is created. The vacuum technique is used to bend the flat ‘Plynoleum’ material into its final 3 dimensional shape.

Precision Work

Precision work

Laser cut Furniture Linoleum - Designer Lise Levebre made a series of Oak and Walnut wooden trays and bowls using Furniture linoleum on the inside.

Laser cut technique is used to fit the linoleum seamlessly into the wooden shapes but also to "score" the black cardboard backing to allow the material to bend evenly within a tight radius. An beautiful example of a clever and ingenious way to process of our Furniture linoleum.
