The social responsibility and the urgency to reduce CO2 emissions is immense. More and more we globally notice the effects of climate change. Currently embodied carbon is responsible for 28% of building sector emissions. New and renovated buildings should meet zero-net-carbon standards to meet the SDGs. How do we tackle this task throughout the chain? Which actions are taken so far and what are we still facing? We think that a carbon neutral built environment starts with design.
In this Live Forward webinar, World Green Building Council CEO, Cristina Gamboa and Artist and Innovator, Daan Roosegaarde give their vision on how to achieve CO2 neutral together. A challenging dialogue between these two game-changing pioneers. After sharing their personal story based on their expertise, the guests will delve further into this topic.

The World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) catalyzes the uptake of sustainable buildings for everyone, everywhere. Transforming the building and construction sector across three strategic areas - climate action, health & wellbeing, and resources & circularity - we are a global action network comprised of around 70 Green Building Councils around the globe. As members of the UN Global Compact, we work with businesses, organizations and governments to drive the ambitions of the Paris Agreement and UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Through a systems change approach, our network is leading the industry towards a net zero carbon, healthy, equitable and resilient built environment.
Studio Roosegaarde is a pioneer for the livability of our future landscapes. Clean air, clean water, clean energy, and now clean spaces are our new values. As social design lab, Dutch artist and innovator Daan Roosegaarde and his team of designers and engineers connect people and technology in artworks that improve daily life in urban environments, spark imagination and fight climate crisis.
Internationally acclaimed works include WATERLICHT (a virtual flood showing the power of water), SMOG FREE PROJECTS (the world first largest outdoor air purifier which turns smog into jewelry) SMART HIGHWAY (roads that charge throughout the day and glow at night) and the SPACE WASTE LAB (visualizing and upcycling space waste). Roosegaarde's mantra 'Schoonheid' is a dutch word with two meanings: 'beauty', that comes from creativity; and 'clean', that comes from clean air and clean energy. For Roosegaarde this should be a fundamental condition in daily life.
Follow the true CO2-neutral path
Times are changing and now as we all know, not always in a good way. For today, we need to think about tomorrow more than we did yesterday. We owe it to our generation, and we have to do it for future ones: consider the way we eat, the way we travel, how we relax, work and think or in other words: we have to change the way we live.
Over the last 125 years we have been on an inspiring, Marmoleum path. With ups, downs, and the most amazing colors and textures. A CO2-neutral path through millions of buildings around the world. A path that's still unfolding, because it hasn't reached that fully sustainable future. Which is why we invite you to join us... choose most consciously...
