Petroleum Development of Oman (PDO) Ras Al Hamra International School, Muscat is the first LEED certified school building in Sultanate of Oman. The school’s mission is to help foster children’s passion for learning. The school provides high quality education for all PDO staff’s children between the ages of 3 and 11. The school building incorporates many sustainable green building features in design and construction while also addressing local culture.
There are 24 classrooms and other supporting facilities, such as:
1. Multipurpose Hall
2. Learning souk
4. Music & Library room
There are two floors and divided into KG and Primary/Administrative Blocks with around 130,000 square feet of floor space. The school building can accommodate 600-plus students and 40-plus teaching/non-teaching staff currently with a provision to expand further to 600 students in future development.
Forbo Flotex color (Sheet & Tile ) and Bulletin board selected for this project. More than 2,500 M2 bulletin board installed all the classroom & corridor walls .It's the first project in Oman, where bulletin board has installed with unique theme and ideas. As well, flotex was installed all the acoustic rooms especially Music room ,Library & classrooms ( Approx qty - 2,800 M2 )
Sr.Project Manager Mr.Hari Nair stated that "We successfully completed this project by using forbo flooring products. Thanks to the flexibility forbo's flotex , it was very easy to cut on site and fit around the school corridors, which ultimately resulted in an easy installation. Bulletin board was right choice for wall cladding, it was innovative and excellent idea for sharing communication."
