In the new Åkeredsskolan, approximately 6,000 m² of flooring from Forbo Flooring was installed in classrooms, corridors, the library and staff rooms. The school was completed in autumn 2025 and was designed with a strong focus on colour, acoustics and sustainability.
Flooring choice: Marmoleum Decibel
Marmoleum Decibel was selected for large parts of the school thanks to its sound-reducing properties, helping to create a calmer and more pleasant acoustic environment in a busy school day. Marmoleum Vivace was chosen for its vibrant pattern, where the colours can easily be echoed in walls and interior elements to create a cohesive yet varied environment.
“You can really notice the sound reduction in the floor. It feels quiet and calm in the corridors, even with many children moving around,” says school administrator Sophia Nylander.
Sustainability
Marmoleum is made from natural raw materials, has a long service life and a low climate footprint – in line with the project’s high sustainability requirements.
