With the inauguration of the new building of the Oscar Paret School in Freiberg am Neckar in June 2022, the city also presented the largest building project in its history, named after the German archaeologist Oscar Paret (1889-1972), who was the state conservator of Baden-Württemberg in the post-war period and an honorary professor at the Technical University of Stuttgart. Following the guiding principle of "united where possible - separated where necessary", the architecture is convincing with its successful implementation: the pedagogical concept of inter-school cooperation is also reflected in the spatial arrangement. A transparent room layout, separate classrooms but common meeting places, subject rooms with digital equipment as well as attractively designed open spaces carry the guiding idea to every single one of the 20,000 m² of school space.
The result is platforms for interactivity with spacious lounging areas and modern seating furniture, tone-in-tone with the timelessly beautiful and equally durable Forbo linoleum flooring Marmoleum piano: in warm yellow, fresh lemon-green and Nordic ice-blue. The fine structure of the coverings makes the large surfaces appear monochrome, but at the same time provides a dirt-hiding effect. The planners added an additional colour highlight with Marmoleum concrete in subtle pink for visual surface emphasis. The Forbo product Nadelvlies Forte is also perfect for heavily frequented areas: it is extremely hard-wearing, absorbs impact sound and reduces ambient noise. The architects mvm+starke opted for anthracite and stone grey mottled - the installation company Onur Karakus turned the plan into reality.
