Sustainability Specialist

Forbo Flooring Systems has an open position for a talented Sustainability Specialist to support the division with the successful implementation of its sustainability strategy, worldwide and throughout all disciplines of the organization.

 

The job

The Sustainability Specialist is responsible for advancing the sustainability goals of Forbo Flooring Systems (FFS). You will support the execution of the company’s sustainability strategy by providing expertise in environmental data analysis and circular economy practices. You will play a key role in developing and implementing product take-back and recycling schemes, directly contributing to the company’s circularity initiatives. You will ensure that sustainability information is accurately collected, processed, and reported to support compliance with regulatory requirements and meet customer expectations. By effectively communicating sustainability achievements and initiatives, you will help reinforce the company’s position as a leader in sustainable flooring solutions. You will work with a team of local project managers and their general managers. You will report directly to the Global Sustainability Program Manager and work closely together with the Sales & Marketing teams, Product Business Units and the Central functions like Marketing, HRM, Procurement and Logistics.

This is a job for a motivated, strategic circular-economy professional with strong stakeholder-engagement skills and expertise in sustainability data management, constantly seeking opportunities to make a substantial impact on FFS sustainability programs.

 Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyse and process sustainability-related data into management information
  • to support internal decision-making and external reporting.
  • Provide sustainability information or customer questionnaires, tenders, certifications, and compliance requirements across global Sales & Marketing organizations.
  • Coordinate and support local Sales & Marketing teams in implementing customized take-back and recycling programs in different markets.
  • Research and ensure compliance with regional waste management regulations, including aspects related to transportation and logistics for take-back and recycling programs.
  • Develop and deliver clear, data-driven communication on sustainability achievements, initiatives, and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the preparation of sustainability reports.

Our ideal candidate should have:

  • Master’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Business Management or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in sustainability, circular economy, or environmental reporting (or relevant internships for entry-level applicants).
  • Strong data analysis skills and critical thinking abilities to interpret complex data
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools, data visualization tools (Power BI) and statistical modelling would be an advantage
  • Experience in sustainability reporting.
  • A deep understanding of the issues of business as well as raw materials, energy, waste and circular economy opportunities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn and take initiative.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a requisite; Dutch, French and German language skills would be an advantage.

 

The location

Preferably you will be based in Assendelft, just north of Amsterdam (the Netherlands). Other FFS locations are possible. You must be ready and willing to travel internationally.
