About Marmoleum

Marmoleum sheet flooring

Forbo Marmoleum is the most sustainable flooring choice and combines its natural character with stunning floor designs, excellent durability and easy cleaning & maintenance.

Marmoleum, Forbo's brand of linoleum, is made from 97% natural raw materials and contains 43% recycled content. It contains no phthalates, no plasticisers and no mineral oil. The key raw materials used in the Marmoleum production include linseed oil, wood flour and jute.

Marmoleum flooring is very suitable for people with asthmatic allergies and similar disorders. It is anti-static (which is why it's so easy to keep dust-free), and its proven bacteriostatic properties inhibit micro-organisms.

Marmoleum sheet is available in rolls of 2x30 metres (wxl) and offers more than 150 colourways. It presents 4 design directions: Marble, Solid, Linear and Patterned.

Besides Marmoleum sheet we also offer Marmoleum in tiles, which is covered by our Marmoleum Modular range, and Marmoleum Click tiles, which can be quick and easily installed thanks to the proven click system.

Marmoleum sheet is presented in 4 design directions each with their own unique visual: Marble, Solid, Linear and Patterned.

Marmoleum Marble offers the authentic marbled visual for which Marmoleum is most famous. The designs are composed from 3 to 8 colours creating visuals that vary from strong, contrasting marbles to more subtle designs like fresco murals.

Our Patterned range presents a totally different look with a modern uni floor design yet with a subtle speckled pattern that gives your floor just that bit of extra liveliness.

Marmoleum Solid combines the naturalness of Marmoleum with a modern concrete look. Certain designs are enhanced with fine colour nuances that gives your floor an extra twist.

Last but not least our renewed Linear range that gives Marmoleum a totally new look with vintage linear designs in both bright and subtle, natural colours. With Marmoleum Linear Textura we add a new dimension to our linoleum by embossing it with 2 natural textures. This brings your floor to live and adds a tactile feel to it.

Marmoleum floorcare

Our Marmoleum floors are easy to clean and maintain thanks to their durable Topshield2 finish. The Forbo Floorcare system for linoleum supports two different methods, which are determined by the availability of dedicated tools. The Spray method is the most effective and economical method and is performed by using a one-disk or rotary machine. For situations where a rotary machine is not available or practical, the manual Monel method can be applied.

The Spray method Mechanical floor care, using a rotary machine.
In most situations the Spray-method is the best option. Spray-cleaning will keep the floor in optimal condition and inhibit the adhesion of dirt. The Spray-method provides a dry and hygienic environment.

The Monel method Manual Forbo floor care, using basic floor care tools
The Monel method (or ‘soap film method’) is the best option when a rotary machine is not available or not practical. A water-soluble Monel film prevents stubborn dirt from adhering to the flooring surface. Monel provides a satin gloss and an improved slip resistance.

Making linoleum

We take pride in creating Marmoleum

The craft of manufacturing linoleum has evolved over the last 150 years. Forbo has been driving this development through its Marmoleum brand. Making Marmoleum is an art, which is not learned at any trade - or craft school. In fact, only a handful of people know how to make Marmoleum.

Determining the correct mixture of ingredients, allowing the right time for raw materials to settle, applying the correct temperature and pressure all skills Marmoleum Experts must master. We are proud of our experts, as they take pride in creating every piece of Marmoleum.
