    About Coral

    Stop dirt in its tracks

We have been the world leader in textile entrance flooring for over 50 years, so there is nothing we don’t know about keeping dirt and moisture out of your building. First impressions count. When people enter your building they should like what they see. But you also have the practical pressure of keeping your building floors clean and your visitors safe. Our Coral entrance flooring systems do all this, and more.

Our Coral collection consists of many different collections, each with its own focus area, like dirt-removal or moisture absorption. In addition to functionality, you can also choose different installation options: sheet, tiles and mats.
Whatever collection you choose, you know you have the best quality with the best functionality.

A well-designed and innovative entrance flooring system will:
    • reduce the risk of slip injuries
    • prolong the life of the interior floor finish
    • reduce the cost of on-going maintenance
    • make the entrance look good and inviting
    • contribute to an environmentally friendly building by reducing the use of detergents for the maintenance of the other floors

    Entrance zones

    Choose the right entrance system

Just having a mat behind the door is not enough. People often do not stop to wipe their feet, so a good entrance flooring system has to do its job. A Coral entrance system that takes different zones into account can stop up to 95% of walked in dirt and moisture from reaching your building floors.

A functional entrance flooring system is chosen based on the location of the building (determines type of dirt), the amount of footfall (how many people walk on it), the type of people who walk on it (e.g. business people or school children) and the type of entrance in the building (large, small, inside, outside). Your entrance flooring can already start outside and continue all the way to the reception area.

We have defined 3 entrance zones.
For each zone we offer a selection of products that best fit the entrance area.
    Zone 1: External primary matting
    Zone 2: Internal primary matting
    Zone 3: Circulation zone matting

See our video about entrance flooring zoning or click on the zones in the image below for more information.

    Sustainability

    Creating better environments

From how they're made to how they perform, Forbo Flooring Systems makes outstanding products that are truly sustainable.

    Energy from renewable sources
Of all the electricity we buy, 100% comes from renewable sources. This means our Coral production site is part of an effective environmental management system and has achieved ISO 14001 certification.

    Zero landfill
Virtually zero landfill is achieved by the Coral manufacturing plant.

    Re-use waste
All the waste yarn from the Coral production is re-used by the yarn supplier. Our constant search for new ways to reduce our environmental impact has led us to work very closely with forward-thinking suppliers. They incorporate ever higher levels of recycled content in their materials.

    Econyl® yarn
Most of our Coral entrance floors use Econyl® yarn which is made from used and abandoned fishing nets. Using Econyl® helps reduce the planet's existing waste, avoids additional manufacturing-related pollution and keeps the consumption of natural resources and energy to a minimum.

Reduction of cleaning and maintenance costs
Our entrance flooring systems can stop up to 95% of dirt from being walked into a building. This reduces your building's floor cleaning costs by up to 65% and prolongs the life of your floors.

    Installation

    Coral installation & floorcare

Architects and interior designers spend a lot of time and money on the visual appearance of a building. It is often forgotten that this design can only be retained when the floor stays clean and undamaged. The Coral collections are designed with our own yarn system that helps scrape dirt and absorb moisture, keeping the entrance floor looking good even after years of use.

    What is LRV & NCS?
In architecture, Light Reflectance Value (LRV), is a measure of the percentage of visible and usable light that is reflected from a surface when illuminated by a light source. The LRV can be linked to a number of decisions on which colour can be chosen. The approximate LRV of a colour indicates the amount of visible light that a colour will reflect. Black has a light reflectance value of 0% and absorbs all light. White has a light reflectance value of 100% and keeps a building light and cool. It also links to the use of electricity where lighter colours need less lighting which is a direct saving for the environment. All Forbo products carry a light reflection value, which can be found on the collection pages with the description of each item.

NCS colour coding describes the colour of any material. With numeric colour codes, so called NCS Notations, such as NCS S 1080-Y70R, any colour can be described precisely. NCS has defined 1950 standardised colours at every tenth step of the colour space to represent the entire colour space. Each notation's colour sample is visually identical to any other colour sample of the same notation, whether it is a standardised colour or a colour in between the 1950 standard colours. This way you can find matching flooring colours with other coloured items in a room.
