    About Needlefelt

    Reliable, recognizable and practical

The high quality of Forbo Flooring needlefelt is based on more than 40 years of experience in the production and supply of this hard-wearing floor covering. It is available in 3 qualities, designed to meet different requirements.

    Extremely robust

    • GUT seal of approval for “contaminant-tested textile floor coverings”.
    • Withstands heavy use, such as castor chairs in offices or wheeled suitcases in airports.

    Sustainable
    • Our needlefelt backing consists of 100% recycled polyester.
    • The high production quality ensures a long lifespan for the floor, which therefore does not need to be replaced regularly.
    • Our high quality polyamide fibres are designed to provide additional protection against dirt and soiling, saving on cleaning costs and contributing to a sustainable building.

    Noise reduction
Noise reduction levels between 20 dB and 22 dB, meaning less ambient noise, ideal for use in places where a quite atmosphere is desired, such as offices.

    Electical resistance
Enhanced electrical dissipative properties (≤107 Ohm (Ω)) as standard on Forte sheet and Markant sheet, giving options suitable for areas sensitive to static electricity such as computer and server rooms.

    3 design qualities

    Ultimate functionality

The Forbo needlefelt range is available in 3 qualities designed to meet different requirements: 750 g/m2 fibre weight (Forte sheet), 600 g/m2 (Markant) and 500 g/m2 (Akzent).

    Forte
With a total thickness of 6.5 mm, a 100% polyamide fibre structure and a fibre weight of 750 g/m², Forte sheet is our premium needlefelt flooring range. The very dense texture provides an attractive appearance and wear-resistant performance for use in highly-frequented areas. A selection of colours from the Forte collection is also available in modular tile format with a pile weight of 400 g/m².

    Markant
With a total thickness of 5.5 mm, a 100% polyamide fibre structure and a fibre weight of 600 g/m², Markant sheet is a high-quality needlefelt floor covering with a coarse texture. Due to its robust, hard-wearing properties, Markant floors are ideal for frequently used places or areas where chairs with castors are likely to be used.
In addition to the uni colours, Forbo also offers 4 graphic options with a timeless 'box' design: Markant Graphic City.

    Akzent
Akzent is Forbo’s value-for-money alternative and the only collection in the needlefelt range that is made of a combination of 80% polyamide and 20% polypropylene fibres. Needlefelt Akzent has a total thickness of 5 mm and a fibre weight of 500 g/m² and is a practical solution for hard-wearing commercial flooring.

    LRV & NCS

    LRV & NCS values

Download here the overview of the LRV & NCS values

    LRV
In architecture, Light Reflectance Value (LRV) is a measure of the percentage of visible and usable light that is reflected from a surface when illuminated by a light source. The LRV can be linked to a number of decisions on which a colour can be chosen. The approximate LRV of a colour indicates the amount of visible light that a colour will reflect. Black has a light reflectance value of 0% and absorbs all light. White has a light reflectance value of 100% and keeps a building light and cool. It also links to the use of electricity where lighter colours need less lighting, which is a direct saving for the environment. All Forbo products carry a light reflection value, which can be found in the text next to the enlargement of the tabletop.

    NCS
NCS colour coding describes the colour of any material. With numeric colour codes, so called NCS Notations, such as NCS S 1080-Y70R, any colour can be described precisely. NCS has defined 1950 standardised colours at every 10th step of the colour space to represent the entire colour space. Each notation's colour sample is visually identical to any other colour sample of the same notation, whether it is a standardised colour or a colour in between the 1950 standard colours. This way you can find matching flooring colours with other coloured items in a room.

The 'Natural Colour System' NCS has been developped in order to indentify the colour value, its intensity and hue for a product. By using the NCS maesurement system, colours and colour groups can be identified and matched regardless of the material that has been used. In this way colour coordinates for different aspects of the interior of a building can be determined. All Forbo Flooring products carry an NCS code, which can be found next to the enlargement of the tabletop and in our downloadcenter.
