MADE arhitekti design buildings in response to the main current challenges in construction; how to build economically, planet-friendly, and safely. The kindergarten is a twostory, public, wooden build, with adaptability and multifunctionality being its initial requirements. The building has excellent energy efficiency thanks to its insulation and use of recycled materials, and the building's CO₂ footprint is significantly lower than in standard constructions. Indoors, materials that are as harmless as possible to children's health are used, with low emissions of volatile organic compounds and no toxic components. The Salaspils wooden kindergarten
is the first public building in the Baltic states with a 'Passive House' certificate. This 'Wooden' kindergarten received Grand Prix at this year's Latvian Architecture Award!
