After the high level academic and educational achievements of Jūrmala Secondary School No. 1, the school has been granted the status of a state gymnasium and acquired the name Jūrmala State Gymnasium in 2008.
For a renovation of the buidling Marmoleum floors were chosen in various colours. Each floor of the school has a different colour scheme which creates a positive emotional atmosphere and helps guide students around the school.
