Textile patterns with a contemporary twist

Designs Loom & Braid
These two patterns are designed to closely evoke the look of interwoven carpets, expressed either through a bold graphic structure or a more irregular, organic composition. The colour palettes offer versatility, allowing the designs to either stand out as statement pieces or blend seamlessly into the surrounding interior.

Loom
The Loom design draws inspiration from traditional weaving techniques, reinterpreted with a rich, layered character. Clusters of colour create unique variations within each pattern, introducing a dynamic rhythm across the floor. The use of two scales: weave for the small scale and ribbon for the larger scale adds further depth and flexibility, making it ideal for defining zones and shaping spatial experiences.
This design is offered in the colours pink, green, and multicolour
The Loom colourways are available in both Flotex and vinyl.
Designers note
"When I was asked to design for the Beyond Craft library update, I was over the moon. For the “Loom” design, my inspiration partly comes from Asian pandan weaving. I aimed to create a classic woven pattern, enriched with colour gradients and a soft texture to bring more subtlety and depth to the design. Two design scales were developed to create varied rhythms across the floor." - Fanny Gay

Braid
Inspired by traditional craft techniques such as weaving and braiding, this pattern reinterpret textile construction in a modern way. The interplay of horizontal and vertical threads creates a dynamic, graphic movement, while subtle irregularities introduce a natural rhythm. It is this sense of imperfection that reveals the hand of craftsmanship, giving the design its distinctive and engaging character.
The Braid colourways are available in both Flotex and vinyl.

"Together with Fanny and Dorothé, I had the opportunity to create new designs for the digital library. The designs I developed for the Beyond Craft collection are my first designs for Forbo. For the Braid design, I was inspired by the imperfections of hand woven patterns and the natural rhythm they often contain. I translated this character into a colour palette that enhances the texture and feel of this woven effect." - Niels Awater
