Keen interest in Forbo’s building and construction adhesives activity
Since signing an agreement in December 2011 to divest its industrial adhesives activities to H.B. Fuller, Forbo has been examining the strategic options for its building and construction adhesives activity, which was not included in the transaction. During this time, the company was contacted by several interested parties, and Forbo will be holding talks with these parties in the context of a structured process in the coming months about a possible sale of the building and construction adhesives activity.

In December 2011 Forbo announced to divest its industrial adhesives activities, including synthetic polymers, from its Bonding Systems division to H.B. Fuller. The transaction is expected to be completed in March 2012. As already communicated by Forbo at the time, the company has been examining the strategic options for its building and construction adhesives activity, which is not included in the transaction. Options being considered include further development on an independent basis, partnerships with other industrial players or possibly a sale. During this time, the company was contacted by several interested parties, and Forbo will be holding talks with these parties in the context of a structured process in the coming months about a possible sale of the building and construction adhesives activity.
Talks are at an early stage and the outcome is completely open. Further information will follow in due course.
In the 2010 business year, the Bonding Systems division, with industrial adhesives, synthetic polymers and building and construction adhesives, posted sales of CHF 606.6 million (with industrial adhesives and synthetic polymers accounting for CHF 499.3 million and building and construction adhesives CHF 107.3 million). Bonding Systems has around 1,400 employees, of which 300 are in the building and construction adhesives activity.
