On April 1, 2000 Dr. Jan Lipton, member of Forbo's executive board, will take over the responsibility for the strategic synthetic belting business unit (drives and conveyor belts) that accounts for roughly 20% of group sales. Lipton was a member of the executive board of the Laufen group with responsibility for the sanitary business in Europe and Asia as well as for the tiles business in the U.S.A. In addition, he was in charge of the the group's Technology and Innovation activities. Lipton made an essential contribution to the successful turnaround of the Laufen group. With this appointment, Forbo concludes the enlargement of the group's executive board from five to seven members as part of Forbo's strategic realignment.
Effective January 1, 2000 Marien A.G. Weijenberg, the former production manager of Forbo Krommenie B.V., the Netherlands, became a new member of the Executive Board with responsibility for the group's strategic linoleum business unit which accounts for approximately 30% of group sales.
