Total Express is a logistics service provider headquartered in São Paulo. Total Express has been sending parcels for a whole range of online stores in Brazil for 30 years. These stores range from small and mid-size e-commerce companies all the way to large retailers, or complex parcel orders for the industrial and public sector. The delivery service covers the whole territory of Brazil and includes express shipping within 24 to 48 hours for more than 1300 towns and cities, as well as standard shipping within 3 to 7 days in over 3750 towns and cities.

Total Express started to collaborate with Forbo Siegling Brazil when faced with a real challenge posed by a cross-belt sorter. At the time, the sorter urgently needed maintenance, particularly on critical system components such as its belts. Due to poor reliability and shipping problems, Total Express hadn’t been 100% satisfied with previous partners.

Another challenge was that the sorter had to be operational 24/7. As a result, Total Express scheduled specific times for preventative maintenance, which had to be complied with at all costs. This was the only way of ensuring no downtime. Consequently, reliable maintenance services and a customer service team with availability around the clock were vital.

Our belting solution

Forbo Movement Systems developed a conveyor belt, customized to the customer’s requirements, for this cross-belt sorter. Precision was required when this belt was produced, cut to size and spliced. What’s more, Forbo Siegling Brazil kept to all scheduled maintenance intervals and has the right products and a well-trained service team to provide all-round support to Total Express.

The result

The customer is more than satisfied with the quality of the products and the service fitters’ technical expertise. In particular, the customer welcomes our team’s reliability and quick response times. Total Express and the Forbo Movement Systems service team ensure the sorter is operational for over 98% of the time. Forbo solutions are now used in cross-belt sorters and letter sorters, induction conveyors and as sorting belts. After talking to Total Express and at its recommendation, their retail customers have already started to test and use belting solutions from Forbo Movement Systems. At Total Express, they particularly remember Christmas Eve 2020, when the service team managed to prevent critical shipping problems by repairing a faulty sorting belt exceptionally quickly.
