Procurement Category Manager – Oil Derivatives & Other Raw Materials

Our Global Procurement team is embarking on an exciting transformation journey—integrating a fully digital, AI-enabled Source-to-Pay (S2P) platform to deliver state-of-the-art procurement efficiency and unlock new levels of value creation.
Mission / Role Purpose
As Procurement Category Manager for Oil Derivatives & Other Raw Materials, you will be responsible for defining and executing the global category strategy for critical raw materials—mainly PVC, plasticizers, and yarn fibers—across our worldwide operations. You will act as a strategic business partner to internal stakeholders and a trusted negotiator with our supplier base, ensuring sustainable supply, cost competitiveness, innovation, and risk management.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Execution
- Develop and implement a multi-year global category strategy for the subcategories you are in charge of to identify and implement value creation drivers.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation.
- Investigate the benefit of hedging and develop a new hedging policy.
- Ensure alignment with sustainability objectives, including circular economy and carbon footprint reduction
Supplier Relationship Management
- Manage relationships and performance with 200+ suppliers globally, including strategic partnerships for the vendors above 500k€ spend.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, contracts, and terms to deliver long-term value.
- Drive supplier innovation to enhance product performance and sustainability.
Global Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with product line management, R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams across 12 sites worldwide.
- Act as the key point of contact for raw material sourcing matters.
- Support production continuity through proactive risk management.
Digital Procurement Transformation
- Contribute to the roll-out and adoption of our new AI-enabled S2P platform.
- Leverage advanced analytics and AI agents for market intelligence, supplier performance tracking, and predictive sourcing.
- Promote data-driven decision-making and process automation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor or Master’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum 5 years of strategic procurement experience, preferably in chemicals, plastics commodities, or industrial manufacturing.
- Proven experience managing large global spends (€100M+).
- Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier development skills.
- Knowledge of raw materials markets, particularly oil derivative and preferably PVC, plasticizers, and yarn fibers.
- Result oriented. with solid analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and to keep calm under pressure.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with cross functional team spirit and the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Appetite for digital procurement tools and AI-driven analytics is a strong plus.
- Fluent in English; Dutch preferably, additional languages are a plus.
- Willingness to travel globally (~20%).
