The Wilhelm-Arnoul School is a primary school in Mörfelden-Walldorf that has stood for an open, respectful learning environment and close ties to the local community for decades. Around 200 students learn here in an atmosphere shaped by a dedicated teaching and support team. In addition to regular lessons, creative projects, social skills, and environmental education play a central role in everyday school life.
As part of a comprehensive renovation, the school building, originally built in 1962, has been fundamentally modernized in recent years. The goal of the renovation was not only to meet energy efficiency standards but also to create a pedagogically and ecologically future-proof learning environment. Sustainability played a key role – from the use of renewable energy and modern insulation techniques to the selection of low-emission, durable materials for the interior. The architectural planning and implementation were carried out by the experienced firm opus Architekten BDA, which contributed to the successful redesign.
Particular attention was paid by the architecture firm to the choice of flooring. The decision was made in favor of Marmoleum by Forbo – an environmentally friendly linoleum flooring made from natural raw materials such as linseed oil, jute, and wood flour. Marmoleum stood out especially due to its excellent properties for everyday school use:
- Durability and resistance to heavy wear from children, teachers, and furniture
- Easy to clean, minimizing the effort required for cleaning and maintenance
- Allergy-friendly, antibacterial surface that actively supports hygiene
- Sustainable production with a cradle-to-gate CO₂-positive footprint
- Wide range of colors and designs that create a friendly, learning-enhancing environment
By choosing this type of flooring, the Wilhelm-Arnoul School underscores its commitment to healthy spaces, ecological thinking, and long-lasting solutions – taking an important step toward future-oriented school architecture.
