When furnishing a university library, the choice of materials is determined by function and maintenance. For the floor finish, Flotex flooring from Forbo was chosen. Flotex combines the ease of maintenance of a vinyl floor with the look and feel of a carpet. An ideal application to combine atmosphere and acoustic performance.
For the library tables, we looked at references from historical libraries. Previously, the reading tables were in wood with certain parts of the table inlaid with leather, because leather is more pleasant to write on. We have replicated this in a contemporary way by selecting a beautiful wood print in laminate combined with Forbo's Furniture Linoleum. Furniture Linoleum is an ideal material for writing on and the material also feels softer and warmer than laminate. This is how we created our version of the reading tables.
On the walls noticeboard in Bulletin Board by Forbo have bene applied which fit in nicely with the overall colour palette.
