A unique Marmoleum bespoke design floor was installed in the Hakodate Ward public hall.
The public hall of the Hakodate district was completed in September 1910 as a meeting place for residents and chambers of commerce. The former town hall had been destroyed by a major fire in 1907. In 1974, it was designated as an important cultural property of Japan and restoration work was carried out. The public hall of Hakodate Ward has been open to the public since 1983.
The building is a representative of meiji western-style wooden architecture, expressing western style with Japanese technology. It is built in a colonial style with a gable on the left and right in a symmetrical form seen from the front and it has a balcony supported by Corinthian columns.
