Marmoleum enhances the outdoor feeling at Bever's new head office

Bever has been the outdoor specialist in the Netherlands for decades. From its new head office in Pijnacker-Nootdorp, the organisation works daily to make nature accessible to everyone. A pleasant and future-proof working environment for employees was therefore an important starting point in the development of this building.

Bureau Kroner Architecten and KUO Studio collaborated with Bever on the interior design. Their goal: a functional and attractive office that matches the outdoor feeling that Bever stands for: sustainable and comfortable. . The choice of materials played a major role in this.

More than 1,200 m² of the ground floor is covered with Marmoleum. The initial preference for a cast floor was replaced by Marmoleum Cocoa, chosen for its natural, smooth appearance, ease of maintenance and sustainable character. The subtle speckles give the floor a little more liveliness, while the use of upcycled cocoa shells ties in nicely with Bever's own approach of giving raw materials a second life.

The new office meets strict sustainability criteria and is awaiting the international BREEAM Excellent certificate. Marmoleum contributes to this: the floor consists of 98% natural raw materials, is produced in a climate-positive manner and can be completely recycled at the end of its life. Even cutting residues are reused, further enhancing the environmental score.

Mark Graafland of Bureau Kroner Architecten: ‘More and more clients are asking for sustainable materials. Marmoleum fits the bill perfectly: climate-positive, easy to maintain and available in a huge range of colours. What's more, it is produced in the Netherlands. For us, Forbo Flooring is a partner we enjoy working with.’

Anyone entering the building immediately notices the connection with nature. Real trees adorn the hall and corridors, and the use of Marmoleum reinforces this feeling. With this floor, you literally bring nature indoors. Coral entrance mats at all doors ensure that the floor remains well protected and dirt is kept to a minimum.

Marmoleum is also becoming increasingly common in all Bever shops. For example, the new shop concept was launched at the opening of Bever Utrecht, with Marmoleum once again playing an important role. This choice emphasises the desire to consistently opt for sustainable and natural materials in the shops as well.

The result is a building in which the interior and flooring complement each other. Natural materials, light workspaces and a warm atmosphere make the head office a place where employees feel at home and where sustainability is visibly implemented in every detail.
