When flooring supports the transformation of a place of knowledge
A university library reimagined as a place for knowledge, culture and exchange
Located on the hills of Punaauia, Tahiti, the University of French Polynesia library has undergone an ambitious refurbishment and extension project designed by CORAIL Architecture. More than a renovation, the project supports the transformation of a major educational and cultural facility, open to both university students and the wider public, and recognised as a key access point for scientific, technical, printed and digital documentation in French Polynesia.
Designed to meet the evolving needs of higher education, the new library supports a wide range of uses: quiet reading, collaborative work, training, digital consultation, exhibitions and document preservation. It now stands as a place for culture, meeting and exchange, serving both the campus and the wider territory.
“This project is a remarkable success of which we can all be proud. It demonstrates not only the architectural and technical quality of the structure, but also the excellence of local expertise and the ability of our companies to combine their skills in pursuit of a common ambition.” C. Landais, Corail Architecture
