Tourist Office - Val Thorens ski resort

The French ski resort of Val Thorens decided to modernize its tourist office, which has been receiving an increasingly international and urban clientele. For the new, more open-plan interior, the Tokio agency proposed a floor with a custom design taken from a photo of the lunar surface. This was reproduced on Flotex flocked textile floor covering, producing an impressive visual effect.

“We approached Forbo, in order to better understand the printing process of the design.” Pascal Marchand, who’s in charge of the Tokyo agency, explained. Because of the acoustic performance, the architect was thinking about using a resilient flooring like Flotex and he noticed that Forbo offers custom-made printings of this flocked textile. “We had the idea of proposing a reproduction of the lunar surface a bit by accident, while we were listing all the astronomy-related events for the meeting with the client”.
