Just like quality and ergonomics-friendly application properties, sustainability is a fundamental principle in the development or improvement of every Eurocol product. The same applies to production processes, transport & logistics, and packaging. Recycling plastic packaging for tile fixers, such as buckets and jerrycans, once again represents an important step forward.
This new recycling service is a groundbreaking initiative by BMN Bouwmaterialen and Forbo Eurocol, in collaboration with Kras Recycling from Volendam. This processing company is a partner of the Circular Plastics Alliance, which coordinates and drives sustainability projects of this kind. The idea behind the partnership is as simple as it is effective. Eurocol customers who purchase their products from BMN return their empty, completely clean buckets and jerrycans, which are then 100% recycled. And there is more: the shrink wrap and straps used to prepare pallets for transport are also included in this circular process. The result? A fully closed loop in which used plastic packaging is transformed into new, high-quality materials for a wide range of applications.
In collaboration with Kras Recycling, we are contributing to the transition from linear to circular packaging. To achieve this, we collect raw materials that are used to produce new PCR packaging. What makes this particularly valuable is that a returned used bucket or jerrycan is processed by Kras Recycling into a new package. A fully circular process, in other words.
BMN Bouwmaterialen makes it even easier for its customers to participate in the recycling program. Whether they collect their used packaging themselves or return it to a BMN Hub location, all collected packaging materials contribute to recycling. After a pilot phase, the program has since been further expanded, with tile installation companies being consulted to identify potential improvements and to further refine the collection process.
This recycling service is not only a practical solution; it also serves as an inspiration for BMN and Forbo Eurocol customers to actively and consciously contribute to sustainability. Together, we are responsible for a cleaner future—one in which not only the amount of waste is reduced, but valuable raw materials are also recovered and reused. This makes a tangible contribution to a circular economy and a more sustainable future for the construction sector. Contact us today and join our efforts towards a greener world!
