How do I know if a Eurocol product is'nt too old?

Each package of a Eurocol product has an eight-digit batch number. Based on this, you can determine the production date. This number always starts with a 1, which stands for Forbo Eurocol. The next digit is the year. For 2016 it’s 6, for 2015 it’s 5, and so on. The next three digits indicate the day number. This runs from 001 (1 January) to 365 (31 December). The digits following the day number relate to the production site and are only required for internal use.’’

Below is an example of a batch number:
1.6.211.123

1 - Forbo Eurocol
6 - 2016
211 - 29 July
123 - production location

Not like a carton of milk

Ferry: ‘Customers sometimes ask me: why don’t you just put the best-before date on the packaging? Then I explain that when I go to the supermarket, I usually choose the carton of milk on the shelf that has the most recent date. Because many customers do exactly the same as me, the oldest carton is often left behind. Understandable, isn’t it? We would like to prevent this from happening at specialist retailers with our Eurocol products. The indication of the batch number helps to ensure that the oldest packages, which are at the front, are also sold first.

Storage advice

‘Remember this: it’s important that all products are stored in a cool, dry place and in closed packaging. Things such as opened packaging, high temperature or air humidity have a negative influence on the shelf life. Just assume that an opened cement-bound powder product can’t be stored for long. And very importantly, now that winter is approaching again: protect ready-to-use Eurocol products well against frost! In the warehouse, in the company bus and on the project site.’

Cover film

‘The supplied film on a paste product is there for a reason. That’s why I recommend that you always use it again after processing to cover the paste. This prevents it from drying out due to moisture evaporation. In this way, you can keep using the paste product for a few more months. And beware: high temperatures also have a negative influence on the quality and shelf life of the product. So pay extra attention to this during the summer months!’
