Architect Reiner Becker:
"We avoided to plan a library that is competing with the Bauhaus buildings. The building has a reduced and reserved appearance. You enter the library through the former Kaufhalle (a supermarket). Inside we have the "Bücherbox" as a centerpiece of the whole building and only a small amount of carefully selected coloured items. The eye catcher of the building is the red Marmoleum Walton floor.
