The Pearl and Local History Museum in Adorf/Vogtland has been dedicated for decades to the history of the freshwater pearl mussel, pearl fishing in the Vogtland region, and the regional tradition of mother-of-pearl craftsmanship. The museum brings this industrial and cultural heritage to life, combining it with a modern exhibition approach.
As part of its redesign, the museum was transformed into a modern experience center. New rooms and design elements were created, enhancing both the exhibition and the visitor experience. The renovation provides spacious walkways, new interactive areas, and thematically designed zones for effective knowledge transfer.
High-quality flooring solutions from Forbo Flooring were used throughout the renovation – Marmoleum and Eternal Digital Print:
In the corridors and on the staircase, Marmoleum in a subtle gray tone was installed. This choice offers multiple advantages: Marmoleum is highly durable, easy to maintain, and extremely resilient – ideal for high-traffic areas such as hallways and staircases. The calm gray color also provides a neutral backdrop, allowing the exhibits to remain the focal point.
Eternal Digital Print was applied to the large exhibition areas. In one room, the blue floor motif evokes the feeling of the sea – visually striking and thematically appropriate for the world of pearls and water. In another room, the floor depicts a forest landscape. This creative approach adds a strong experiential value for visitors, combining thematic depth with high-quality design.
