New Campus Borlänge
Dalarna University is a university with campuses in Falun and Borlänge and also offers distance learning. In 2024, the transformation of a former Domus building in central Borlänge into a modern university was completed, where education and research are conducted in synergy.
Alice Andersson from the architecture firm White says that the project was characterized by a strong focus on sustainability—both the building’s structure and a large portion of the furniture have been reused.
Using natural materials such as furniture linoleum on tables in the library and tiered lecture halls was therefore a natural choice. Alice further explains that furniture linoleum is perceived as a soft material and also offers acoustic benefits.
Overall, the university is very satisfied with the building and its interior.
