Groundbreaking both aesthetically and technically. The Flotex Sottsass collection is the result of a creative collaboration between Forbo Flooring and the Italian design studio, Sottsass Associati, responsible for the famous Memphis Design trend at the end of the last century.

The designs have a common theme: irregular, apparently random, organic forms, and “optical” features that play with scale.

    Why Choose Flotex Sottsass?

    Why Choose Flotex Sottsass?

Flotex Sottsass comprises of four exquisite designs, Bacteria, Wool, Terrazzo & Kasuri, that demonstrate a depth of detail and vibrancy of colour never seen before in Flotex.

Bacteria is a development of one of Ettore Sottsass' signature designs. Created in the late 1970s it embodies the modern age of nano technology and genetic engineering.

The Wool design was conceived when Ettore Sottsass laid filaments of wool yarns, collected from various countries, onto a flat, coloured surface.

Terrazzo is a witty twist on the concept of Italian Terrazzo. It gives the impression of a beautifully laid Mediterranean terrazzo floor but on closer inspection, the 'chips' are revealed as pieces of torn paper.

Kasuri draws its inspiration from the traditional Japanese woven textile technique used to create the eponymous fabric.

    Watch Flotex in action

This collection is borne out of the desire to work with an innovative flooring technology and its precision HD printing brings to life the avant-guard designs that clearly carry the Sottsass signature. The late Ettore Sottsass and his partner and head of studio, Christopher Redfern, have together created the four designs that comprise this Flotex collection, which is manufactured using specially developed HD digital print technologies that set a new benchmark for rendering high quality images onto textile surfaces.
