The Wool design was conceived by Ettore Sottsass when he laid filaments of wool yarns, collected from various countries, onto a flat, coloured surface. It plays on the textures of the individual strands of the natural fibres to give a sense of depth and warmth to the floor along with a defined linear pattern that can dramatically shift perspective of interior spaces. Wool is available in 12 colourways.
Flotex Kasuri draws its inspiration from the traditional Japanese woven textile technique used to create the eponymous fabric. Sottsass uses the digital pixel in the fusion of contemporary and traditional references inherent in this design. Available in small and large weaves across 8 colourways, the two versions of Kasuri can be combined in a floor plan to give an interesting contrast.
Pattern repeats: Large - 50cm x 46cm, Small - 33.3cm x 55.7cm
Terrazzo by Sottsass is a witty twist on the concept of Italian Terrazzo (a traditional flooring created several hundred years ago when Venetian workers found use for discarded marble remnants) Sottsass Association has developed this idea to give the impression of a beautifully laid Mediterranean terrazzo floor. However, on closer inspection, the "chips" in Terrazzo are revealed as pieces of torn paper - each holding its own story, a shredded love letter or a business document? It's left to the individual to decide and create their own narrative. Terrazzo is available in 13 colourways.
Flotex Bacteria is a development of one of Ettore Sottsass' signature designs, created in the late 1970's, a forerunner of the current modern age of nano technology and genetic engineering. Optically challenging, the design is open to wide interpretation - close up amoebic forms sway and shift yet from afar it appears as a constellation of distant stars. Bacteria is available in 20 colourways.
Our unique hybrid flooring combines the benefits of textile and resilient flooring to give you the comfort of a high tech carpet tile and the durability of a resilient floor.
We are always looking for ways in which to improve our production processes and product constructions to make them more sustainable. Not only do our Flotex tiles contain 67% and Flotex sheet contains 22% post-industrial recycled content, (by weight), Flotex is 100% waterproof, which means you just need water and standard cleaning materials for an effective clean using minimal hazardous chemicals, which would have a detrimental effect on the environment.

Ground breaking both aesthetically and technically, the Flotex Sottsass collection is the result of a creative collaboration between Forbo Flooring and the Italian design studio, Sottsass Associati. The result is four exquisite designs, which include Terrazzo, Wool, Bacteria and Kasuri, that demonstrate a depth of detail and vibrancy of colour never seen before in Flotex.
This collection is borne out of the desire to work with an innovative flooring technology and its precision HD printing brings to life the avant-guard designs that clearly carry the Sottsass signature. The late Ettore Sottsass and his partner and head of studio, Christopher Redfern, have together created the four designs that comprise this Flotex collection, and it is manufactured using specially developed HD digital print technologies which set a new bench mark for rendering high quality images onto textile.
