The interior architecture of the Rae State Secondary School building, which was nominated in Estonia as the Timber Building of the Year 2024, Estonian Architecture Award and Interior Architecture Award 2024, features responsibly selected materials that are human-friendly, natural, and all carry a minimal ecological footprint.
In the corridor and classroom, as well as on the wide staircase in the open atrium, Forbo Marmoleum flooring has been installed. Marmoleum was also applied to certain cabinets in the school rooms. Cabinets and floors covered with linoleum are easy to maintain and clean, which is necessary in a school environment. As the interior architect said, "the material is designed to be durable and so natural that no one with allergies should feel unwell in this building". Rae State Secondary School has also been nominated for the EUmies Awards 2026.
