How it performs, your footsteps

A Forbo floor is always beautiful and stylish to look at. A floor that's comfortable to live, work and play on.

But looks aren't everything; often, it's the things you can't see that really matter.

We believe true sustainability is about creating links of shared responsibilities and values between all stakeholders.

How it is made

Marmoleum is made from 97% natural materials, 72% of which are renewable and will grow back within 10 years

Marmoleum a natural talent

Forbo’s Marmoleum is made from 97% natural raw materials. So it’s no surprise that it is the world’s leading sustainable resilient flooring. Marmoleum is what it is, a genuine, authentic product.

How it's Made
• Made from 97% natural raw materials, 72% of which are renewable and will grow back within 10 years.
• Marmoleum is made with 43% recycled content to reduce the need for virgin raw material.
• Marmoleum is 100% biodegradable.
• 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and our linoleum production sites achieve ISO14001 certification.

How it Performs
• Our Marmoleum performs well from the minute it's installed, is easy to clean and has a very low cost of ownership.
• Topshield2 finish, which, together with naturally antibacterial ingredients, means the floor is hygienic and needs less cleaning with fewer harmful chemicals.
• Approved by Allergy UK
• We can collect installation off-cuts from our Marmoleum floors and recycle them back into Forbo products.

Vinyl, making it better

We are constantly striving to improve the environmental profile of our vinyl products through local and international initiatives. For example, we re-purpose our vinyl waste (and that of other flooring manufacturers) to make new products-such as the backing for Flotex and Westbond carpet tiles.

How it's made
•Our vinyl ranges contain up to 60% recycled content in their backing.
•We produce all our vinyl in Europe where it meets the highest possible current and future REACH compliance standards for chemical content.
• 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and our vinyl production sites achieve ISO14001 certification.

How it performs
•We use smart material constructions and durable finishes on our vinyl. A micro- embossing technology reduces the need for chemical cleaning and increases the floor's lifespan.
•Through our back to the floor scheme, we can collect installation off-cuts from our vinyl floors and recycle them back into Forbo products. Back to the Floor
•Our Allura Flex vinyl tiles are adhered using tackifier so they can simply be taken up and recycled at the end of their life.

Carpet tiles, closing the loop

We are always looking for ways in which to improve our production processes and product constructions to make them more sustainable. Not only do all our UK produced tufted tiles have over 50% recycled content (by weight), we can reprocess production and installation off cuts and close the loop.

How it's made
• Tessera tiles now boast over 50% recycled content by weight.
• We have invested over £1m in a new extruder to ensure that the little waste we generate is recycled back into new product.
• All of our Westbond tiles have at least 70% recycled content in their backing.
• 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and our carpet tile production sites achieve ISO14001 certification.

How it performs
• Our carpet tiles are quick and easy to clean using a system called Dry Fusion which uses less water and fewer chemicals without compromising on performance.
• Our innovative random lay carpet tiles reduce fitting waste to less than 2%.
• Through our back to the floor scheme, we can collect installation off-cuts from Flotex, Tessera and Westbond nylon carpet tiles and recycle them back into Forbo products. Back to the Floor
• We can also work with local recycling companies to ensure that at the end of life, our carpet tiles can be recycled or reused.

Flotex

Flotex, greater than its parts

Our unique hybrid flooring combines the benefits of textile and resilient flooring to give you the comfort of a high tech carpet tile and the durability of a resilient floor.

How its made
•Flotex tiles contain up to 67% recycled content and Flotex sheet contains 20% recycled content.
•Flotex is the only flocked floor covering to have been assessed under BREEAM and rated mostly A/A+.
•We have eliminated excess packaging from jumbo rolls of Flotex, which has cut our cardboard usage by 50 tonnes per year.
• 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and our Flotex production sites achieve ISO14001 certification.

How it performs
•Flotex is 100% waterproof which means you just need water and standard cleaning materials for an effective clean. You can also steam clean Flotex when hygiene standards demand it.
•Flotex benefits allergy sufferers and has received Allergy UK's seal of approval. It releases twice as many allergens on cleaning than standard carpet.
•Through our back to the floor scheme, we can collect installation off-cuts from our Flotex floors and recycle them back into Forbo products. Back to the Floor

Entrance flooring: keeping the world outside, outside

• From old carpet fluff to abandoned fishing nets, many of our Coral collections are made from Econyl®, a high quality yarn made from 100% regenerated polyamide. Econyl
• In addition to the Econyl® regenerated yarn, the primary backing of Coral Welcome is made from recycled plastic PET bottles.
• Of the aluminium used in Nuway Tuftiguard production, 100% is recycled and all our aluminium and steel waste is recycled. Our rubber waste is sent to equestrian centres.
• 100% of electricity comes from renewable sources and our Coral and Nuway production sites achieve ISO14001 certification.
