The Art of Allura LVT

The Art of Allura LVT

The Forbo Allura LVT collection presents the ultimate finesse in realistic wood and stone designs that have been created with state of the art production techniques to create the most realistic and natural material expression in luxury vinyl tiles.

Luxury vinyl tiles have matured into a new flooring category that is steadily winning ground in all kinds of market segments. Whether it is retail, leisure, hospitality, offices or education and healthcare facilities, LVT is recognized as an easy to install, easy to maintain high performance floor covering that has the look and feel of its natural counterparts, like wood, stone or any abstract material.

Like often is the case when a trend develops, the offer of LVT floors has exploded beyond belief. Now is the time to recognize the quality of those floors. Forbo’s Allura LVT will last for years to come, with a unique design that has been created from the natural original to the refinement of the grain and texture that creates a lifelike copy.

Although design attracts the taste and creates the atmosphere that is chosen, there are other important factors that professional floors relate to. Flawless installation, impeccable dimensional stability, easy maintenance, and durability; a floor should keep looking good without additional polish or frequent maintenance intervals.

Designing Allura

Designing Allura

Creating our Allura luxury vinyl tiles was an exciting journey where our design team combined the insight in trends in design and architecture and the use of natural materials.

There are many ways in which floor designs influence an environment. They can be calm, tranquil and unobtrusive giving the space its own character to come to life. A floor also can be solid as a dominating factor providing for a strong base for other design elements.

Today floors very often have a tendency to be playful and to be in harmony with the environment. Mixing and matching plank sizes, colours and material expression create individual floors. The Allura LVT collection has been designed to offer the wide spectre a floor can have.

Forbo Allura is created around a glass fleece core which together with the intricate build-up of different layers, including a calandered backing, containing recycled content, result in a product base that delivers a perfect substrate for printing and embossing of the life like decors that have been created by our designers. All printing is done with water base inks and the wear layer is created by making use of our finishes that are used for our project vinyl collections that have proven performance for well over a decade.

Allura & the environment

Carefully selected raw materials
Forbo Allura is produced with carefully selected raw materials that are checked for consistency and quality. The fact that layers of the luxury vinyl tiles are created in our own factory and no pre-engineered layers of filler or coatings are used means that no raw material is being spilled in the production process.

Phthalate free
All Allura vinyl tiles are created with the highest environmental stands in mind and all floors in the Allura range are phthalate free.

Recycled content
Allura also contains recycled content, which is used in the backing of most ranges. For Allura we are only using scrap from our Allura ranges, in this way we can guarantee that also our recycled content in fact is phthalate free.

European production
Forbo’s Allura luxury vinyl tiles are produced in Europe using ultramodern production lines that deliver the highest quality product with an extremely good dimensional stability. Green energy used in production and 100% recycling capabilities deliver the most sustainable alternative in LVT.

In architecture, Light Reflectance Value (LRV), is a measure of the percentage of visible and usable light that is reflected from a surface when illuminated by a light source. The LRV can be linked to a number of decisions on which colour can be chosen. The approximate LRV of a colour indicates the amount of visible light that a colour will reflect. Black has a light reflectance value of 0% and absorbs all light. White has a light reflectance value of 100% and keeps a building light and cool. It also links to the use of electricity where lighter colours need less lighting which is a direct saving for the environment. All Forbo products carry a light reflection value, which can be found on the collection pages with the description of each item.

NCS colour coding describes the colour of any material. With numeric colour codes, so called NCS Notations, such as NCS S 1080-Y70R, any colour can be described precisely. NCS has defined 1950 standardised colours at every tenth step of the colour space to represent the entire colour space. Each notation's colour sample is visually identical to any other colour sample of the same notation, whether it is a standardised colour or a colour in between the 1950 standard colours. This way you can find matching flooring colours with other coloured items in a room. The LRV & NCS documentation of our products can be downloaded in our document download center.
