Conceived by Ettore Sottsass by laying filaments of varied wool yarns collected from different countries onto a flat coloured surface, Flotex Wool plays on the texture of the individual strands of natural fibres, giving a sense of depth and warmth to the floor. The defined linear pattern offers widely different perspectives used in a variety of interior dimensions.
Based on traditional Japanese textile flooring, Flotex Kasuri interprets the intricate art of weaving specially dyed threads using a dot matrix acheived through digital printing. Available in small and large weaves, the two versions of Kasuri can be combined in a floor plan to give an interesting contrast.
Flotex Terrazzo is a design based on traditional Mediterranean flooring. Our design on Flotex gives the impression of a beautifully laid Mediterranean Terrazzo floor, but on close inspection the glass chips are in fact revealed to be fragments of a document or letter torn and apparently scattered on the ground.
Flotex Bacteria taking inspiration from Sottsass's "Bacterio" sketch from the 1970's, this design is open to wide interpretation. Close up it can be perceived as random carnival confetti, from afar it appears as a constellation of distant stars.
Our unique hybrid flooring combines the benefits of textile and resilient flooring to give you the comfort of a high tech carpet tile and the durability of a resilient floor.
We are always looking for ways in which to improve our production processes and product constructions to make them more sustainable. Not only do our Flotex tiles contain 67% and Flotex sheet contains 22% post-industrial recycled content, (by weight), Flotex is 100% waterproof, which means you just need water and standard cleaning materials for an effective clean using minimal hazardous chemicals, which would have a detrimental effect on the environment.

Ground breaking both aesthetically and technically, the Flotex Sottsass collection is the result of a creative collaboration between Forbo Flooring and the Italian design studio, Sottsass Associati. The result is four exquisite designs, which include Terrazzo, Wool, Bacteria and Kasuri, that demonstrate a depth of detail and vibrancy of colour never seen before in Flotex.
This collection is borne out of the desire to work with an innovative flooring technology and its precision HD printing brings to life the avant-guard designs that clearly carry the Sottsass signature. The late Ettore Sottsass and his partner and head of studio, Christopher Redfern, have together created the four designs that comprise this Flotex collection, and it is manufactured using specially developed HD digital print technologies which set a new bench mark for rendering high quality images onto textile.
