Reducing Waste

Reducing Waste

As the saying goes “You can’t make an omelette without breaking eggs”. To date, it’s unfortunately been impossible to completely avoid waste in industrial production. However, we’re seeking ways of reducing or recycling waste.

Reducing Waste

Recycling

For example, at the German sites virtually all the remnants from polyamide tension members are used by other companies in production processes. For example, a whole five tonnes of polyamide remnants were sold at the Swiss site in 2012 for recycling to another company.

The US sites collect grinding dust in filters so that it can be used by external partners as material for manufacturing floorings and similar items. We can also return some injection strips from plastic modular belts, as well as polyurethane remnants into our new production processes.

Waste disposal

We comply with the regulations on waste disposal at each of our sites. We also select waste-disposal companies very carefully. We place high priority on approvals and certification, short distances to disposal sites, flexibility and trained personnel.
