GLOBAL WARMING

The culprit behind the enrichment of the atmosphere with greenhouse gases are the approximately 40 gigatonnes of CO2 released each year through combustion and use of fossil fuels in energy production, in industry, and in transport and traffic.

In the decades ahead, this will lead to a global rise in temperature of around 3 degrees Celsius. This makes it all the more important to reduce energy requirements in production, and to minimize the use of fossil raw materials.

MARMOLEUM PRODUCTION

The linoleum production process has existed for more than a century. It is a form of craftsmanship that consists mainly of oxidation, mixing, calendering and drying. Energy consumption is an important core indicator for linoleum production and has been our focus for many years.

Marmoleum is manufactured in a state-of-the-art environment where the traditional manufacturing process has been automated in efficient production lines. The energy required during the production process at Forbo’s linoleum plants comes from 100% renewable sources – currently hydropower.

Even with the transport of raw materials into the plant factored in, the production process does not introduce any more CO2 to the atmosphere than is offset by the renewable raw materials used.
