Combining Style with Performance

Providing a world of choice with over 500 designs & colour ways and all of the required cleaning and maintenance benefits, Flotex can achieve both style and performance without compromise. Thanks to its high-density, flocked surface pile, Flotex can be digitally printed, offering endless design possibilities as well as high performance when it comes to functionality - this flocked flooring is exceptionally hard wearing and will restore back to its original appearance after every clean.

EN1307 annexe F – abrasion resistance
EN 1307, the European Standard that measures the performance of textile flooring, has recently annexed extra clauses to this standard to recognise that flocked floor coverings differ from textile flooring. In this new standard, a durability test has been developed to test abrasion resistance. The pile surface of the flocked flooring is rubbed back and forth 1,000 times with a 2cm wide pointed metal blade loaded with a 2kg weight. The aim of the test is to establish the durability of the flocked flooring. At least 50% of the pile must be retained at the end of the test for the product to meet the standard’s requirement. We test Flotex for 1,500 cycles and we achieve >90% of pile remaining.

Cleanability
Whether it’s water soluble stains such as coffee, ketchup, coca cola, wine, etc. or greasy stains like butter, engine oil or permanent marker, all can be removed easily from Flotex flocked flooring. Flotex can save you time and cut your cleaning costs as it is easy to clean, quick-drying and typically needs less water/chemicals than other textile floor coverings.

Flotex Construction
Flotex flocked flooring is a completely unique textile floor covering that combines the cleaning properties and hard wearing & durability characteristics of a resilient floor with the warmth, acoustics and underfoot comfort of a carpet. Flotex is made up from a solid vinyl, reinforced base with a densely flocked surface of nylon 6.6 fibres, which are anchored firmly into the base layer. There are over 70 million fibres per square metre in Flotex, making it extremely dimensionally stable and hard-wearing.
Find out how Flotex is made

How long it takes for a floor covering to dry will also be of major concern for those keen to minimise turnaround times. A recent Cleaning Research International study looked specifically at this aspect and tested the drying characteristics of flocked floor coverings alongside six different carpet constructions, with Flotex being substantially dried within just two hours. To read the full report click here

Allergy UK

Creating Better Indoor Environments

Forbo's Flotex flocked flooring is the only textile floor covering to be awarded the prestigious Allergy UK Seal of Approval™. Due to its highly dense pile, twice as many allergens are trapped in Flotex's nylon fibres and released upon vacuuming in comparison to conventional carpet. The first textile to be approved by Allergy UK, this unique flocked floor covering is proven to positively impact on the lives of allergy sufferers.

Research suggests that there are 5.7 million people who could be allergic to their place of work. Read our Work Fever Report, compiled in conjunction with Allergy UK, and find out how Flotex can help create better indoor environments.

Soiling

Flotex Soiling Classification

In circumstances where the design of the entrance system is inadequate for the level of traffic or unsuited to the type of soiling entering the building, dirt and moisture may be carried onto the surface of the interior floor covering.

Hiding dirt
Flotex is able to `hide' soiling to a greater or lesser degree depending on its colour and design. Using objective testing methods, we have graded each of the Flotex designs on their ability to hide `general' dirt. The result of this testing is a soiling classifcation, which is shown alongside each product reference number.
