Restoring Australia's natural biodiversity

Forbo Flooring Systems Australia has partnered with Carbon Positive Australia to plant native Australian trees and shrubs to help restore Australia's biodiversity. Not as an offset program, rather as regeneration, since Marmoleum is already CO2 neutral from cradle to gate.

Over the past two years we have managed to plant over 12,000 trees/shrubs and plan to plant many more this year and beyond.

Made by humans

Because Marmoleum floors are made from natural raw materials we depend highly on humans who guide the process of harvesting and preparing the raw materials for further transportation and preparation.

Only when this process is perfectly organised, our craftsmen in the factory can make high quality Marmoleum out of it.

See the people behind the product Marmoleum

We care for the people that touch our business, from employees to suppliers. That’s most of our manufacturing sites in Europe are certified to SA8000® The SA8000 Standard is one of the world’s preeminent social standards which aims to protect workers along each step of the supply chain.

Healthy indoor environments

Floor coverings are an intrinsic part of the built environment, they are omnipresent in every square meter of our schools, health care institutions, workplaces, leisure centers, and our home. Forbo Marmoleum floors are designed to contribute to a safe, hygienic, and comfortable environment, adding to your health.

Why is Marmoleum so healthy?

Marmoleum in education

Marmoleum CO2 neutral (without carbon offsetting)

The weighted average of our Marmoleum product range is CO2 neutral (cradle to gate) without carbon offsetting and does not affect worldwide climate change. It combines ecological values with contemporary design and offers an important contribution to a sustainable world.

Carbon offsetting means that the CO2 emissions are not actually reduced in the production of the floor but rather by taking other initiatives like planting trees to compensate for the emission after the production cycle. The manufacturing of Marmoleum is CO2 neutral (cradle to gate) by itself without the need to purchase carbon offsets.

Circular Marmoleum

The restoring capacity of natural resources is the basis for the circular economy. In essence, linoleum is a bio-cycle product, this means that the natural raw materials can be composted and returned to earth as nutrients to the new grown rapid natural raw materials. Another alternative is clean energy generation at the end of useful life reducing the reliance on fossil fuels.
