O’Connell Mahon Architects (OCMA) were commissioned to extend the existing Bon Secours care village, which provides long-term care for 67 residents as well as 7 apartments for independent living. The motive for extending the facility was to provide additional beds plus associated support and social spaces, to meet the current demand for elderly care in the vicinity of Cork, Ireland.

Marmoleum flooring was used throughout the existing facility when it was built 16 years prior to the expansion, and it has remained in excellent condition despite the rigorous healthcare cleaning requirements. The client and OCMA were pleased with the demonstrated durability of Forbo’s Marmoleum flooring and decided to continue using this flooring material in the new wings.
