Sound reduction & indentation

Sound reduction & indentation

Forbo Flooring is an expert when it comes to sound reduction. There are 2 different types of sound that can impact your working or living environment: impact sound reduction and in-room impact sound reduction.

In-room impact sound reduction
In-room impact sound reduction is related to impact noise in the room itself. The standard NF-S31-074 classifies all flooring in to various categories. All Forbo Sarlon floor coverings are classified in Class A: best in class!

Impact sound reduction
Impact sound reduction is related to the sound transmitted through the floor from one room to the floors below. This is the most common quoted sound reduction measure. Forbo is leading in this area and our Sarlon floors are delivering different levels of improvement on impact sound from rooms above. EN ISO 717-2 is the norm for this and our Sarlon floor coverings rate 15 and 19dB on this impact sound reduction measure.

Indentation
Floors need to be strong to remain beautiful and indentation under pressure can be a major issue. Resistance to this needs to be maintained over time and at peak pressures. Residual indentation resistance is a key property for any flooring and Forbo Sarlon is offering you the best in class performance.

Sarlon 19dB
Our Sarlon 19dB floors are offering you the best possible acoustic properties for any project, at a residual indentation that is the best in the industry for this type of floor covering.

Sarlon 15dB
When the requirements are tough, rollability is key and heavy loads will occupy the floor: Sarlon 15dB will give you the best possible solution in acoustic floor covering with very good residual indentation resistance.

Circumstances will dictate what works best for your project, but Forbo can guarantee you get the best solution there is in an acoustic floors.

LRV & NCS codes

LRV & NCS codes

Download here the Light Reflection (LRV) and NCS colour codes from our Sarlon acoustic floor coverings Sarlon LRV & NCS

LRV
In architecture, Light Reflectance Value (LRV), is a measure of the percentage of visible and usable light that is reflected from a surface when illuminated by a light source. The LRV can be linked to a number of decisions on which colour can be chosen. The approximate LRV of a colour indicates the amount of visible light that a colour will reflect. Black has a light reflectance value of 0% and absorbs all light. White has a light reflectance value of 100% and keeps a building light and cool. It also links to the use of electricity where lighter colours need less lighting which is a direct saving for the environment. All Forbo floors carry a light reflection value, which can be found on the collection pages with the description of each item.

NCS
NCS (the 'Natural Colour System') colour coding describes the colour of any material. With numeric colour codes, so called NCS Notations, such as NCS S 1080-Y70R, any colour can be described precisely. NCS has defined 1950 standardised colours at every tenth step of the colour space to represent the entire colour space. Each notation's colour sample is visually identical to any other colour sample of the same notation, whether it is a standardised colour or a colour in between the 1950 standard colours. This way you can find matching flooring colours with other coloured items in a room.

NCS has been developed in order to indentify the colour value, its intensity and hue for a product. By using the NCS maesurement system colours and colour groups can be identified and matched regardless of the material that has been used. In this way colour coordinates for differnt aspects of the interior of a building can be determined. All Forbo floors carry an NCS code, which can be found on the collection pages.
