As part of its work with Allergy UK, Forbo Flooring Systems has donated 50m2 of its Flotex flocked flooring to Meopham Community Academy in Kent, as part of a trial to investigate the impact of floor coverings on the health and well-being of pupils.
Linda Dwight, Meopham Community Academy’s Business Manager, helped manage this project and commented: “The Flotex looks lovely and bright within the classroom and really provides us with confidence that we are helping children that suffer from allergies. We have also noticed that dirt and dust is easier to remove and does not build up like in the other classrooms – which is a bonus, as many of the activities in the classroom are carried out sitting on the floor.

Committed to the Health of the Long Tall Sally Staff
Trifle Creative selected Forbo Flooring Systems’ luxury vinyl tile Allura Flex in white withered oak for the new workspace of Long Tall Sally – the go-to label for the tall women of the world. This was thanks to its high Light Reflectance Value (LRV) ratings and ability to give the space a contemporary feel.
The high LRV ratings of the pale wood aesthetic from the Allura Flex range, installed by FLOOR_STORY, will allow additional light, from artificial or natural sources, to reflect off the floor and brighten the space efficiently. The more light a workspace experiences, the more employees will benefit from an improved and healthier working environment.

According to Allergy UK there are an estimated 21 million allergy sufferers in the UK – that’s one in three of us. One of the main culprits is thought to be today’s double-glazed, centrally-heated, carpeted houses which can cause an increase in allergens and provide the ideal breeding ground for house dust mites.
Rachael Wintrip’s daughter Poppy, six, has suffered from eczema since she was three-months-old, and developed asthma since the age of two. Working with Allergy UK, Forbo Flooring replaced her old bedroom carpet with Flotex.
Says Rachel, ‘Poppy’s eczema and asthma has definitely improved since Flotex was fitted. There’s been a marked reduction in her wheezing and coughing and unlike before she’s no longer bothered by it during the night or early in the morning.
